NOTES: The Pack controlled the early part of the game, outshooting Binghamton 5-2 and drawing two power-play opportunities in the first 10 minutes, but Hartford could not beat red-hot Binghamton goaltender Barry Brust, who stopped those shots and finished with six saves in the scoreless first period. Over the second half of that period, Binghamton came back to outshoot the Pack 7-6 over the first 20 minutes. Johnson made all seven first-period stops for Hartford, and the game remained a goaltender's duel in the second period, although the Pack outshot their guests by a whopping 14-3 margin. Brust was unbeatable through 40 minutes with 20 saves. the Pack enjoyed their big advantage in shots despite having to kill off penalties to defensemen Wade Redden and Lee Baldwin. Hartford then killed off two more Binghamton power plays resulting from penalties to Kris Newbury and captain Dane Byers early in the third. Outshooting the Pack 27-20, the Senators finally broke through against Johnson at 16:50 of the third period on a goal by Erik Condra. That proved to be enough, as Binghamton went on to the 1-0 win with Brust securing an impressive, 28-save shutout. Johnson was named the game's No. 3 star.

On the man-advantage scoring play, Tim Kennedy connected for his second goal of the season off assists from Kris Newbury and Pack captain Dane Byers. Goaltender Chad Johnson was sharp in the first period, too, outdueling Cedrick Desjardins by stopping all 11 Norfolk shots in a period when shots on goal were even at 11-11. Norfolk came back strong in the second period, however, putting three of 14 shots past Johnson to take a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes. NOTES: It was a sensational and memorable 2010-11 season debut for rookie goaltender Cam Talbot, who made 41 saves and earned a shutout in his first professional start since ending his college career at Alabama-Huntsville and signing with the Rangers as an undrafted free agent last spring. Dane Byers and Tim Kennedy got the Pack off to a fast start with a pair of power-play goals in the game's first 4:21. With Providence's Matt Bartkowski off for holding at 3:23, Byers, the Wolf Pack captain, needed only 31 seconds to make it a 1-0 game off assists from Kris Newbury and Jeremy Williams. Newbury picked up his third point of the night at 12:37 of the first, picking up the primary assist on an even-strength goal by Williams. Byers had the other assist on the Williams goal. While the Pack were scoring in Providence's end, Talbot was very strong in the Hartford net, stopping all 12 Bruins shots in the first period and a remarkable 17 in the second, when Providence outshot Hartford 17-4. Through two periods, thanks to Talbot, the Pack were comfortably in front 3-0 despite being outshot 29-10. Despite their big lead, the Pack took more of the initiative on offense in the third, but were again outshot 12-8. Talbot held on with all 12 saves to finish with the shutout and No. 1 star honors. Williams was the No. 2 star, and Newbury the No. 3 star.
